About The American School Of Laughter Yoga

The American School Of Laughter Yoga is the oldest and largest provider of Laughter Yoga education in North America and currently serve the educational needs of people in 125 countries and territories. We teach enhanced ways to create, spice up and strengthen the (therapeutic) impact of your laughter sessions.

We trained intensively in India, are affiliated and still work very closely with the Dr Kataria School Of Laughter Yoga. We played a major role in helping introduce Laughter Yoga in North America. Our mission is to inspire and empower individuals, businesses and associations about the use of laughter as a genuine solution to stress and health-related issues. We deliver trainings and motivational speaking services worldwide and were the first to introduce Laughter Yoga in Russia.

The American School Of Laughter Yoga was founded in 2004 by Sebastien Gendry, the first American to become a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher. Sebastien went all the way to India to train intensively with Dr Kataria, the founder of the Laughter Yoga method.

A strong connection between these two men ensued. Sebastien went on to serve for two years as World Operations Director for Laughter Yoga international and played a major role in helping introduce Laughter Yoga in North America.

He wrote the first Laughter Yoga training manual, organized the first teachers trainings with Dr Kataria in North America, actively started to train others himself and tirelessly kept promoting the values of this method and Laughter Clubs with the US media.

This intensive work of media relations paid off in 2006 with an national coverage on CNN with Dr Sanjey Gupta, ABC "Dancing With The Stars", ABC "Good Morning America", the Associated Press and with it all major newspapers in North America, and many others media.

2006 was also the year when the American School Of Laughter Yoga organized its first All American Laughter Yoga conference in Oceanside, California. Close to 100 people from all over North America and Brazil attended this unique event.

In April 2007 the Oprah Winfrey Show pro-actively contacted Sebastien Gendry and asked him to organize and lead in Chicago a laughter session for Reggie Wells, Oprah's make-up artist and "resident cynic". Reggie Wells said in the live show with Oprah that this laughter session had not just lifted stress from his body, it had lifted stress from his soul. The Oprah Winfrey Show is the biggest TV show in the world with an audience of 49 millions people weekly in the USA alone.

In 2008 the American School Of Laughter Yoga was the first to introduce Laughter Yoga in Russia (January + July).

The ambition of the American School Of Laughter Yoga is to support the growth of Laughter Yoga to mainstream level and create a successful working model for others to emulate.
