What Are Laughter Clubs?
Laughter
Clubs (also occasionally known as Laugh Clubs, Laughing Clubs, Yoga
Laugh Clubs) are fully independent, not-for-profit, non-political, non-religious
and non competitive gatherings of people where all are welcome regardless
of gender, age, physical abilities, social or economic backgrounds. They
practice the Laughter Yoga method of Laughing for no reason as a form
of exercise. Many are free. Some are for fee.
- There are currently over 6000 Laughter Clubs among 63 countries
- We estimate about 350 Laughter Clubs in the USA
Laughter Yoga is a fun form of exercise
good for all that strengthens the immune system, unwinds the negative
effects of stress and makes you feel good in the here and now. You do
not need to have any previous experience, equipment or a particular form
of clothing to practice. There are no contortions or
fancy movements. You do not need to be happy or have a sense of humor.
Each
club defines its own meeting frequency. People attend for various reasons.
These include and are not limited to:
- Health improvement
- Learn to better manage stress and/or anger issues
- Boost Happiness
- Foster Inner Peace
- Overcome sadness and depression
- Break social isolation and create new friendships
- Develop self-confidence
- Improve and/or alleviate the discomfort of specific physical challenges
- Play and have fun in a safe and non competitive environment

The
name "Laughter Club" (Laugh Clubs, Laughing Clubs, Yoga Laugh
Clubs) is a trademark of the Dr. Kataria School Of Laughter Yoga who created
it and has been using it since 1995. Anybody can and is welcome to use
it. The Laughter Clubs we promote are not for profit and a place where
people laugh as a form of exercise for the reasons mentioned above. Our
vision is to achieve Health, Joy and World Peace through Laughter.
It is very important that you understand that all Laughter Clubs (Laugh
Clubs, Laughing Clubs, Yoga Laugh Clubs) are 100% independent. They do
not report to anybody and do pretty much what they want. We strongly encourage
you NOT to participate, or stop participating, in activities with which
you feel uncomfortable.
