1) E-motional Medicine: Laughter Yoga in Healthcare Settings
In this presentation, Dr. Cindy will inspire, empower and educate participants on how she started a successful Laughter Yoga Club in a major healthcare organization. She will guide you through the process of whom to approach and how to go about starting a club as well as help you identify the barriers to success and strategies for overcoming them.
Dr. Cindy Solliday-McRoy is a Health Psychologist from America's HEARTland who specializes in "E-Motional Medicine," which represents her own unique blend of mind/body, energy and functional medicine. She has devoted her life to teaching the basic tenants of "Self-care in HEALTHcare" by helping individuals tap into their natural capacity to heal.
2) Laughter and Life Review: A Laughter Yoga approach to end of life care with Children and Adults
This presentation will provide background for the use of Laughter Yoga with Pediatric, Adolescent and Adult Hospice and Pre-hospice patients and their loved ones. Participants will explore personal experiences with end of life issues and related grief and loss, followed by an experiential demonstration/Group experience and debriefing.
- Explore Mind-body connection and (psychoneuroimmunologic, social) benefits of laughter in Palliative Care Settings.
- Identify Laughter Yoga exercises to use with w/Individuals, Couples Families and Groups of persons with life-limiting illness.
- Experience brief Life Review and Palliative Laughter Yoga session.
Kate Altieri is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Addictions Counselor and Massage Therapist. She is honored to work with Children and Adolescents with life limiting illnesses and Adults with Chronic Pain and Terminal illnesses using Expressive Arts and other Therapies. Kate has been a peace activist for over 35 years and entered the field of Social Work to pursue her commitment to Social Justice. She established the first Self-Esteem Group for HIV Positive Clients in Colorado, Taught Policy at Newman University Graduate School of Social Work and was a Board Member and Pikes Peak Branch Representative for the National Association of Social Workers for two years.
